Covishield and Covaxin will be sold on the open market!
The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has recommended the sale of anti-Covid vaccines Covishield and Covaxin in the open market. Meaning the vaccine can be used without any condition. Right now the emergency use of these vaccines is approved in the country.
The subject expert committee on Kovid-19 of CDSCO on Wednesday reviewed the applications of Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech for the second time, after which it has recommended to allow the sale of Covishield and Covaxin in the market with certain conditions. Now the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) will evaluate the recommendation and give its decision.
Now the question is how the vaccine will be sold in the market, a source said that after registering on CoWin, the vaccine will be easily available in clinics and hospitals. While selling, the hospital administration will have to enter the complete details on the buyer’s CoWin.
Pharma companies Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bharat Biotech had requested the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to sell their anti-Covid vaccines, Kovishield and Covaxin, respectively, in the open market.
On October 25, Prakash Kumar Singh, director of government and regulatory affairs at Serum Institute of India (SII), gave an application to the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI). On which DCGI had asked for more data and documents from the Pune-based company, after which Singh had recently presented all the documents with the data.
